Bel Air, Guinea
Alufer Mining operates the Bel Air bauxite mine in Guinea. Alufer discovered the deposit through maiden drilling in 2011 and took it all the way through feasibility, financing and construction, achieving first production on time, within budget and with zero lost time injuries in Q3 2018. The ramp up phase which followed commissioning progressed smoothly and the mine reached commercial production within the first six months of operation.

Paragominas, Brazil
Bauxite mining at Hydro Paragominas (Pará) started in 2007 and today it employs about 1,500 permanent employees and about 600 workers on long-term contracts.
Hydro Alunorte is the world’s largest alumina refinery and has nearly 1,900 permanent employees and about 800 long-term contractors. Production at Hydro Alunorte started in 1995 and after three expansions now has a total capacity of over six million metric tonnes.

The mining company Mineração Rio do Norte (MRN) in Trombetas, Pará has an annual production capacity of 18 million metric tonnes of bauxite and has nearly 1,300 permanent employees. The bauxite is transported by barge to the Alunorte refinery in Barcarena.
